In an inspiring effort to expand the reach of women empowerment in technology, the Coding Ladies Club Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Chapter recently visited the Business University (BU) students at TTU to introduce them to the club’s mission and vision. The event, led by the president and vice president of the Coding Ladies Club TTU chapter, was aimed at encouraging more female students from various disciplines to explore the exciting world of coding and technology.

Introducing Coding Ladies Club

The Coding Ladies Club was founded to break the barriers women face in the tech industry by offering support, education, and opportunities. During the visit, the club president shared the origin of the Coding Ladies Club and its purpose: empowering women in tech by providing them with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a male-dominated field.

The vice president followed up by explaining the club’s various activities, which include coding workshops, hackathons, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities with professionals in the industry. They emphasized that the club is not just for women already interested in tech, but also for those who might be curious but uncertain where to start.

Encouraging Women from All Disciplines

A significant part of the conversation was about the club’s inclusive nature. The president and vice president reassured the BU students that the Coding Ladies Club welcomes women from all academic backgrounds, not just those studying technology-related fields. Whether a student’s major is in business, finance, or any other discipline, the club aims to offer the knowledge and tools that will enable them to leverage technology in their future careers.

“Tech skills are becoming increasingly important, no matter the industry. Whether you want to run your own business or become an expert in your field, knowing how to code or understanding how technology works can give you a significant advantage,” the club president explained.

Sparking Interest in Tech

The presentation also highlighted the success stories from members of the Coding Ladies Club TTU chapter. By showcasing the projects they have worked on, such as website development and tech events they’ve organized, the president and vice president hoped to inspire the BU students to take the first step towards learning how to code.

The vice president shared her personal journey from having little knowledge of coding to becoming an active member and now a leader in the club. Her story resonated with the audience, many of whom had been hesitant about getting involved in tech due to lack of experience.

What’s Next for BU Students?

Following the talk, the Coding Ladies Club encouraged BU students to attend upcoming events, such as coding boot camps and workshops, to get a taste of what the club offers. There was also an open invitation for any female students interested in joining the club or partnering with the TTU chapter on tech-related initiatives.

The visit concluded with a lively Q&A session, where BU students asked about how to balance tech learning with their business studies, what programming languages to start with, and how they could apply tech skills in their future careers.

Building a Community of Empowered Women

The visit to BU was not only about recruitment; it was also about building a larger community of empowered women across disciplines. The Coding Ladies Club TTU chapter aims to create a space where women support each other, learn together, and inspire one another to take on challenges in the tech world.

By reaching out to BU students, the club hopes to expand its impact and encourage more women to step confidently into the world of technology. As the club grows, so does its vision of creating a generation of women who will transform the tech landscape in Ghana and beyond.

With this introduction, the Coding Ladies Club TTU chapter has sparked new interest in technology among BU students. By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, the club is empowering women to explore new possibilities and break into the tech world, no matter their background or prior experience.
